When your child joins us at Playgroup they will enter what is known as the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ (EYFS).

As a provider of EYFS education, the curriculum we cover has seven main areas of learning and development.  These seven areas have been split into ‘prime’ and ‘specific’.  The first three prime areas are seen as the most crucial for developing the child’s interest in learning, and for building and forming relationships.

The three ‘prime’ areas are:-

  • Communication and language
  • Physical development and
  • Personal, social and emotional development

The ‘prime’ areas will help the child to develop skills in the four ‘specific’ areas.  The four ‘specific’ areas are:-

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world and
  • Expressive arts and design

Each of these areas is extensively covered by the curriculum provided by the staff. The curriculum is constantly reviewed and developed to meet the individual needs of every child.

Children can start the Pre- School as soon as they are two years old.  (Children DO NOT need to be potty trained)  Our admissions criteria is based on age order ONLY, so older children are given priority.  Please contact the Enrolment Administrator to register your interest in a place or to make an appointment to visit us.

Should you wish to withdraw your child from the Playgroup, two weeks written notice is required. Playgroup opening hours are 9.00am until 3.45pm, Monday to Thursday and 9.00am until 12.00pm on Friday. Children must not be left early and should be collected promptly.

We hold a Charity Status and as such, our fees are set to cover our costs.  At present, fees are £14.00 per session. Parents receive invoices during the first week of each half term for immediate payment. Cheques or cash should be handed to our staff.

The local Education Authority directly funds 3 and 4 year old children.

Funded places are also available for eligible 2 year olds. (terms apply)
